Shield anchors are heavy duty fixings used to anchor different materials in concrete, brick or stone. They’re often used for through fastening, and work by creating a secure fixing via an easy-to-use mechanism whereby the bolt and the expansion shield expand against the base material. Because they can be easily removed, they’re ideal for temporary structures.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you use shield anchors?
- Drill the hole to the correct size and depth. If the hole is too big the anchor will spin in the hole without gripping.
- Remove debris from the hole.
- Push the shield anchor through the fixture and into the hole.
- Tighten the bolt so the shield spreads apart and grips the sides of the hole.
How do you size shield anchors?
Shield anchors are sized by both their thread size and their bolt length. For example, if you wanted a shield anchor with thread size of M6 and bolt length of 55mm, you would order a M6x55 shield-anchor.
What mass can shield anchors hold?

Can T&I Chalmers Engineering supply material certificates?
Yes, we can. We supply the following types of certificates, depending on your order:
- Material certificate (chemical analysis and mechanical analysis for some grades)
- Electro-galvanising EG certificate (please request when placing order)
- Hot-dip galvanising HDG release certificate on request (please request when placing order)
